Don Draper would undoubtedly approve. London Fog, the iconic U.S. rainwear label, has chosen Mad Men star Christina Hendricks to star in its latest advertising campaign.
The 87-year-old brand, which featured on the hit show last year, unveiled its new season images today, which play on the show’s retro image.
The actress, 35, who plays Joan Holloway in the hit drama, follows in the footsteps of Gisele and Eva Longoria as the face of the label.
She resembles a Hitchcock heroine in the brand’s signature belted trench coats, which are belted at the waist, highlighting her famous hourglass curves.
And behind-the-scenes footage and photographs show how make-up artists created her look, with winged eyeliner and a beehive-style up-do.
‘We used London Fog in the show and this was a nice way to tie everything together,’ Hendricks told etonline.com.
‘The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone – it worked in the 1960s and it works now.’
She revealed that the sexiest way to wear a trench coat is over nothing at all: ‘…but not if you want to walk out into the real world and not get arrested,’ she added.
She named a slim-fitting style as her favourite piece from the shoot.
‘They are so flattering, it feels like a dress,’ she explained. ‘I think it is nice with thin, pencil-shaped pants underneath and something low. Very simple. It is always good over a black dress, too.’
London Fog featured in the opening episode of the third series of Mad Men last year, as a client of fictional ad agency Sterling Cooper.
