Christmas Spree 2010

“American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony were spotted hitting up the Kitson Kids boutique in Beverly Hills, presumably picking out presents for their 2-year-old twins Emme and Max.

Hilary Duff emerged from Fred Segal in West Hollywood laden with gifts. Something for her new hubby, perhaps?

Despite the rainy L.A. weather, Rihanna went shoe shopping at Barneys New York in Beverly Hills. Let’s hope she had her “Umbrella”!

Kate Bosworth was also spotted browsing the beautiful shoes at Barneys.

As did newlywed Nicole Richie, who sported a funky hat, knee-high boots, and festive red Chanel bag for her trip to the luxury retailer.

“Iron Man 2’s” Olivia Munn and “Poseidon’s” Emmy Rossum indulged their shoe addictions as well. Who knew these two were friends?

Newly-single Vanessa Hudgens enjoyed her Christmas shopping at Barneys. Looked like she didn’t even mind about her recent break-up !

Reese Witherspoon also got into holiday spirit as she shoped at Barneys for Christmas.

Seriously, if your Christmas wish is to see a celeb, just hang out in the shoe department at Barneys! Selma Blair was there, too.

Kourtney Kardashian and her baby daddy Scott Disick picked up a few gifts at Polacheck’s jewelers in Calabasas, California. Think Scott will be putting a ring on it this Christmas?

Jennifer Garner took a break from Christmas shopping for her family to peruse for shoes.

Hotel heiress Paris Hilton brought along a friend for her trip to Kitson in Los Angeles. Of course, her browsing was probably unrelated to the holiday, Paris seems to go shopping every day!

Kirsten Dunst sported a bowler hat and a trench coat while purchasing presents at Barneys in Beverly Hills.

Ashlee Simpson did some last minute Christmas shopping at American Vintage on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles.

Ashley Greene & Nicole Richie : Gym Girls !

Pairing up for a weekend sweat session Ashley Greene and Nicole Richie were spotted out together at their local gym in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday (November 6).

Both decked out in workout gear, the Alice Cullen actress and her House of Harlow designer gal pal hit the weights before exiting to find a pack of awaiting paparazzi.

The sighting comes just after Miss Greene’s rep spoke out to shoot down rumors of a fallout between Ashley and Demi Lovato being a cause of Miss Lovato’s recent treatment center admission.

Ashley’s rep simply stated, “There is no truth to this rumor or any other rumors of conflict between the girls.”

Nicole Richie : ‘Priceless’ Author

Nicole Richie signed copies of her book “Priceless” at Barnes & Noble at LA’s The Grove on Wednesday (October 6).

The 29-year-old author writes about Charlotte, a tall, blond, and willowy twenty-two-year-old that seems to have everything going for her—she’s rich and gorgeous, a talented singer, and has just returned to her Park Avenue penthouse after a year studying in Paris

On Tuesday (September 28), Nicole Richie signed books for her fans who had to wait extra long for her to arrive in New York.

Nicole explained on her Twitter that she left for the airport in Los Angeles at 5am, but the plane had engine trouble. After hopping onto another plane, she got grounded in Chicago due to weather.

Style Weekly : Two-Toned Hair Locks

From anti-aging haircare to the perfect hair cut, Hollywood divas are always in on the latest ways to have healthy, youthful-looking locks.

And now a hair color effect called ombre is steadily becoming a celebrity and city girl favorite. “Ombre” literally means gradation in French, which refers to the dark-to-light fade of color that is used in the technique. Instead of color that starts at the root, darker roots blend into a lightened mid-shaft and end.

It’s a beachier, more natural looking version of the enduring “visible root” trend.

“I think it speaks to the overall organic and sustainable trend going on right now. No one wants to spend all of their time in the salon anymore, and this look means longer time between visits because it’s so natural-looking. There’s no color line of demarcation at your roots,” says Dimitrios Tsioumas, creative color director of New York and Boston’s Mizu salons, where colorists perform the effect.

The term was taken from the fashion world, where the ombre style of diffusing color is used for fabric, and is most often seen in kimonos.

“In the hair industry, we like to translate what we see in the fashion industry into hair. We’ve seen many designers showcase the ombre effect in their collections. We’re making it more natural and softer to fit into our current lifestyles,” adds Tsioumas.

As we told you last season, starlets like Ashlee Simpson are bucking conventional hair colour for the two-toned effect. The best way to achieve this look, says veteran colourist Douglas Timleck of Salvatore Leonetti Salon in Toronto, is to use a highlighting method called balayage. Instead of the usual foils or cap, “it’s hair painting that starts from the roots or lower down the strands.”

Timleck stresses that if done in a “softer, more natural method, a lot of women can carry off this look well.” Rachel Bilson’s style, for example, shows off subtle gradations on beachy highlights.

This hairstyle “works very well for younger people with a strong sense of themselves and their fashion direction,” say Timleck. Drew Barrymore’s dark crown and peroxide-dipped tips are extremely directional.

We also adore Nicole Richie’s warm iteration, which was created by celeb-fave George Papanikolas of the Andy Lecompte Salon in West Hollywood. Papanikolas first took Richie’s hair several shades darker to a medium light brown, and then used balayage technique to add highlights, starting at her natural center part. Using bleach, he painted golden blonde v-shaped tips on the ends of her hair. Then, to graduate the color, he went through her hair in big horizontal sections, backcombing each one before applying bleach in an arrow shape to the ends of the hair.

Another essential to consider about this style is the use of complementary tones. Leighton Meester’s bleached out waves are blended perfectly into her colour. Timleck says “it’s a must.”

Papanikolas applied a similar regime for Shanae Grimes’ shoulder-length locks. First he gave her balayage highlights to add progressively lighter color to her hair, followed by a round of bleach at the tips to emphasize the contrast.

Lindsay Lohan also loves keeping her ends light and roots darker. Lilo looks super hot in this amazing hair color.

Nicole Richie : InStyle October ‘Domestic’

Nicole struck some gorgeous poses in her photoshoot for InStyle magazine, and landed the cover of the October issue. Inside she talks about her past, taking responsibility, regrets and her children Harlow and Sparrow. Here are some extracts:

On the past:
“One thing about me is that I’ve always taken responsibility for my own actions whether they’re good or bad. Even when I was going through my tough time, that was a situation that I created. People ask me, do I blame Hollywood or my parents? No I don’t blame my parents. It had nothing to do with them. I created it and manifested it and I got myself through it with the help of a lot of great people.”

On pregnancy:
“Being pregnant with Harlow was easy. I was wearing heels for eight months. I never got sick and I was like, ‘Oh, what are people talking about?’ But with Sparrow, I was so sick. And my feet were swelling. They were polar opposite pregnancies.”

On Harlow:
“She picks her own clothes. It’s a 20-minute thing—it begins at 7.30 each morning—but it is what it is and it’s fine.”

Nicole Richie & Joel : Roseark ‘Walking’ Couple

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden were spotted at Roseark to view the Robbie Conal “Political Animal” show, and we’re kinda bummed they didn’t bring their adorable kiddos out, but this shot of them holding hands is almost as cute as Harlow’s cherub cheeks!

Nicole showed off her sexy stems in a pair of daisy dukes, and Joel flashed us a grin as he opened the gate for her. Yeah, we’d be smiling if our wifey was this hot too!

Christina Aguilera & Nicole Richie : Party Pals at Voyeur

We all remember Nicole Richie’s wild days of hardcore partying and club-hopping, but now she’s married and a mother. That’s probably why Nicole was spotted out with Christina Aguilera  on Thursday, leaving Voyeur nightclub in L.A. Although Christina was a little MIA all those years in the party scene, she’s starting to pick it up at a much calmer tone with Nicole who knows the partying ins and outs all too well.

Now that the two girls have matured more and grown out of the chaotic lifestyles that they were once a part of, they’ve found a friend in one another. It’s great seeing the unlikely pair bond, and having a good time out on the town.

Both Nicole and Christina still have awesome style, and somehow, a very similar one as well. We’re hoping to see more of the duo out and about from now on!
